Melissa Ilnicki-Schoonheim

With over thirty years of experience in the fashion and floral worlds, my journey has naturally led me to where I am today: Paragraph Amsterdam. Paragraph Amsterdam is a world of colour, creativity, and thoughtful expression. What began as a lifelong dream of owning my own shop has become a space where style, flowers, and atmosphere come together seamlessly. Alongside the shop, I continue my flower styling business, completing the picture and allowing my creative work to extend far beyond the storefront. As a flower stylist, I source, supply, and place plants and floral concepts for businesses, both indoors and outdoors. I believe greenery has the power to transform spaces, influence mood, and tell a story — whether subtle or bold. Originally from Canada, I have now been living in Amsterdam for exactly half of my life. Together with my husband, we are raising our three beautiful, kind, and intelligent children, alongside our handsome Labrador, Sunny, and our much-loved old cat, Star Outside of my work, I love sailing and skiing, and I treasure time spent with my family and friends. These moments keep me grounded, fuel my creativity, and remind me why creating beauty — in both spaces and everyday life — matters so deeply to me.
